UASDÁTÚ : Dar le tuairisc san ‘Irish News’ inniu gur beag ionchur suntasach a bhí ag earnáil na Gaelscolaíochta sa phlean seo.

Dar le Comhairle na Gaelscolaíochta, ní raibh a dhothain ionchuir acu sa phróiséas seo – tá siadsan anois ag obair ar phlean dá gcuid féin.

Ag caint leis an ‘Irish News’, dúirt príomhfheidhmeannach CnaG, an Dr. Mícheál Ó Duibh, go raibh sé riachtanach cur in iúl d’earnáil na Gaelscolaíochta nach bhfuil dearmad déanta orthu.

Tá todhchaí gach bunscoil Ghaelach i mBéal Feirste faoi scrúdú agus tá baol ann go ndruidfear cuid acu agus go mbrúitear le chéile na cinn eile.

Tá sé á mhaoímh ag an ‘Belfast Educational and Library’ go bhfuil spásanna sa bhreis i ngach scoil acu.

Tá 964 páiste ag freastal ar bhunscoil Ghaeilge i mBéal Feirste, thíos ó hardphointe de 1029 i 2006/07.

Bunscoileanna Bhéal Feirste

Tá an cur síos seo a leanas déanta i leith gach scoil acu sa ‘Draft BELB Area Plan for Primary Education’ :-

“Proposal

Local area solution, including closure and amalgamation, to be explored with other schools in the cluster as detailed in Section 4

 Analysis

Schools enrolment falls below the minimum threshold of 140 for a

primary school in an urban area”

Tá 537 spásanna gan líonadh in ocht mbunscoil Bhéal Feirste dar leis an phlean.

Tá inmharthanacht scoileanna an Tuaiscirt go léir á bhfiosrú ag an Roinn Oideachais sa Tuaisceart atá faoi smacht an Aire John O’Dowd, Sinn Féin.

Tá an Roinn faoi bhrú le tamall anuas dul i ngleic le ‘deascaí folmha’ i scoileanna an Tuaiscirt agus bíonn ceist na ngaelscoileanna á brú ag Aontachtóirí maidir leis an phróiseas sin.

Sa ‘Draft BELB Area Plan for Primary Education (Produced in association with CCMS)’ luaitear an t-eolas seo a leanas …

“Summary of the issues in Irish Medium Schools:

* 5 schools (Bunscoil Mhic Reachtain, Bunscoil Bheann Mhadagain, Scoil

An Droichid, Gaelscoil na Mona and Gaelscoil an Lonnain) are below

the minimum threshold of 140 pupils for an urban primary school

* 537 unfilled places between the 8 schools. This represents 36% of

capacity.

* 1 School (Bunscoil an Tsleibhe Dhuibh) has a projected financial deficit

(Level 3).”
